my grandson would be alive today if it wasn’t for cps and the judge in martinez, ca that gave him to his abusive father tushambi evans who killed him.

My niece was taken by CPS when the father was accused of something he never did. The social worker has lied in the reports and have discriminated my family when we have tried to get custody of my niece. The social worker try to intimidate me and the rest of the applicants. She just said that she didn’t have a reason to deny the applications, that they were keeping my niece just because they wanted to. We need help, this has been a long battle (18 months to be exact). My niece was taken to emergency while under the care of foster parents. We won’t give up, and we’ll make the impossible if it is necessary. We need any extra help to fight CPS.

Co co county cps took my kids a week ago for my home being really messy, here’s the kicker, I live in houseing and we have anuale inspections. Scince we had one coming up I took the kids to my mothers to stay for a few days cuz we had to make a mess to clean a mess and I knew it would be unsafe for the kids to be there, any way the cops came to our house to do a probation search on my husband, who DOSE NOT live with me, and tore my house up then called my mom and told her to bring the kids to the house to take um. Sound fair to you?

3 children were sold by contra costa county. The judge said on transcript that this hearing is not about the best interest of the child its about your attitude. I went to the supreme court and they lied to me about the date so i was absent the persiding judges concurred. Its a longer story ill say it one day. WILLIS vs contra costa surpior court. FCPS>

Monique, I would hope that if someone beats and sexually abuses a child, that person would be put in jail whether the child dies or not. Child abuse is like any other crime – there should be a jail sentence. Incarcerate the abusers, not the children.

I do not agree that the innocent parent should have the child taken away, being told she or he “should have known.” Also, I feel that grandparents and other concerned family members should be the first line of defense by taking needy children in and becoming their guardians if both parents have become unfit. Having a government agency decide to take children to foster homes, violating kinship care laws, is not good for the children involved.

If you have been working as a social worker, you ARE aware that there have been many abuses in the CPS program. Search your heart. Do not try to justify injustice, evil, or cruelty.

I am a social worker and I speak on behalf of all social workers. 65 workers were laid off due to the budget cuts. Yes I agree, it is horrible to remove children from their families, but at the same time, it is our responsiblity to protect children. Parents need to take responsibility for their actions. For example, if you allow your boyfriend to beat and sexually abuse your 18 month old child until eventually she dies, then yes, we are going to take your other children. If you use drugs such as methamphetamine and your baby is born positive, yes we are going to remove your baby from your care. Don’t think that you can abuse your child and blame CPS for something you did. Yes, there are times when CPS receives false reports, but unfortunately we don’t know that until we have conducted an investigation. It’s sad that people blame CPS for tearing up their family, but in reality, you as parents did that. Our job is to help you with resources to get your children back. It’s up to you to utlize those resources. In addition, a lot of the decisions are made by the court system and the social workers have to follow what the court says. Keep in mind that not all children are removed even in the worst cases because those parents admit that they have a problem, get help and work with CPS. The best advice I can give to parents is to find out what you rights are. LEARN THE SYSTEM!!!!

You are misinformed. By law, reunification is the priority and from what I can see, children are put back into neglectful homes often enough. It is simple to get your children back if it is just neglect. Clean your house, have clean drug tests and get your kids to school daily and on time. THe new law says that a baby shouldnt languish in foster care if parents are not going to get it together, so they re available for adoption after 1 year of being in foster care. That’s good for the child, hard on the parents if they can’t get their lives back on track within a year. Children deserve stability and CPS requires, in my opinion, a very minimum standard of care in order for parents to get their kids back. Kids always want to go back to Mom and Dad. Parents, ditch the oppositional attitude and do the very little that is required of you, because your kids love you and want to come home.

Likeittis – I would never blame workers alone. The main fault is with federal legislators who passed the child welfare laws that allow CPS social workers to abuse families.

However, I do blame CPS social workers for staying in jobs that involve the destruction of families. Anyone who would do that is, in my opinion, corrupt to the core.

Good social workers find out how evil CPS is, and they quit as soon as they can. The turnover in the job is high for that reason.
