2 inches might work, but a family doesn't fit in 2 inches. Statistically though, I could get started on it that way. Then adding an identifier to each piece. The biggest thing for me is that we show each square is a unique family.

I wonder what happened to the quilt that was made back in 2000-2001... I still have a photo of the square that was made for my daughter.

Perhaps 2 inches square as there are sooo many families affected, at 1 foot square, this quilt would far surpase the AIDS quilt size.

Especially gieven the numerous CPS abuse websites used. Grandsplace, this one, kidjacked, etc.

Liberty Quilt
Current mood: catalyzed
Category: News and Politics

As a child growing up in a society that wanted to ignore AIDS I saw such courage in a child named Ryan White. After his family announced that he had received the disease from a blood transfusion he was forever the face of an innocent person infected by accident. I remember when he died. He gave the world such hope and forced people to change their view on the disease.

I remember that there have been many AIDS quilts because the sizes of them had become too unmanageable to just have one. I remember the quilt being unfurled on the monument lawn. Each 1 foot-by-1 foot square equals a life. The quilt made congress listen and help find ways to protect AIDS victims, to see the vicitms as people, to see the families affected. I don't know anyone who doesn't know someone with HIV or AIDS.

Now the life expectancy of an HIV positive person is decades, not 5 years. Treatments have come so far in preventing the spread of the disease because Congress was forced to acknowledge it.

Today we fight a similar disease, one that doesn't affect individual cells one person at a time. Instead CPS and the family court system infect thousands of families a year. The awareness of the issue hasn't been made strong enough. I think it's time to resurrect the quilt idea.

IF EVERY FAMILY AFFECTED BY CPS OR THE FAMILY JUDICIAL SYSTEM SUBMITTED A 1 FOOT-BY-1 FOOT PIECE OF FABRIC THAT COULD BE SEWN TOGETHER WE WOULD HAVE A TANGABLE VISUAL TO UNVEIL AT SUCH EVENTS AS THE DC FESTIVAL. I WOULD LIKE TO SEE SUCH A QUILT BY THIS TIME NEXT YEAR. THE SAD THING IS THAT I KNOW THERE ARE ENOUGH FAMILIES AFFECTED THAT THIS COULD BE DONE.

I would be willing to take the peices and sew them together. They don't have to be perfect. They don't have to be padded. Just 1 family per square, list the names or a symbol that represents your family. Perhaps I could put together a book of explanation, a page for each square.

Anyone interested? contact me.

Linda:

You know I lean toward folks networking within their OWN STATES AND BANDING TOGETHER TO CHALLENGE CPS.

To that end, I would encourage you to add another main story on useful sites within the US states.

About half of the states have folks who volunteer their time to assist families.

Best to you. F.

Thanks everyone for responding and letting me know what your needs are (Jessica)...

Jacque... I just asked someone to write an article about how to remove your name from the central index...

If you're still within the statute of limitations you might want to explore the idea of suing the county and social workers in federal court on grounds of violations of constitutional law. On the other hand, if you just want peace in your life, you might prefer to drop it and count your blessings.

I have a question as well. I am a single mother of 1 child and I just got done battling with CPS to keep my son. CPS in my case had coerced, deceived, and broken confidentiality on multiple occasions. They told me that I couldn’t be shown the evidence because there wasn’t any it was just what that investigator thought to be true. They took my son on hearsay and broke there own laws all over the place leavening my whole family who was involved emotionally damaged my son now screams if I leave the room. I don’t have any money and I am going to school to become a teacher but will not be able to now. How do I fight to get this removed from my record (I don’t have the money to pay a lawyer and can’t find a pro bono lawyer)? I think CPS needs to answer to the law it seems as though they think themselves to be higher then the law.

I am a mother who had her children ripped away from her. I tried for four years to have my children home with me. My aunt was given custody of my son (she could not have children so she stold mine) and my daughter was placed in foster care and is still there. I have my own home, I am a full-time sophmore in college and have anything and everything a kid could need (including my newest addition, my daughter) but CPS still refuses to call me back and will not contact me so I know what is going on with my child. Because my aunt couldn't have children and she wanted mine she got him and they figured if they gave one child back they would have to give the other one back and that was not going to happen, all because my aunt and her husband were millinaires and had all the money in the world. Well, he recently filed for divorce and I don't know if it is final yet but when the suckered me into the "Guardianship" (because they said if I didn't agree I would get nothing at all) I made sure that my son was to know who me and my husband (his father) were his parents and that he was to be told his sister (who he was raised with) was his sister and that he had other siblings. Well, when I called about a month ago, to request visits (because they said he would have to go threw alot of counsling to know we were his parents and that he had siblings, before we could receive visits again) the guardian at litem who is also very close with my aunt said she wasn't sure the visits were even valid. And when questioned about the counseling she stated he had went once. Once in two years! We gave them alot of time and they screwed us. We would call every month for visits and were told he wasn't ready by my aunt. When she wasn't even bringing him to counseling at all, and the guardian at litem is on their side. I hate CPS. They do nothing but rip families apart. And the public pretenders here in Bellingham, WA do nothing for you. I think you should put more info regarding guardianship orders and more legal stuff regarding how they can keep a child from you when you have current and have had custody of a child for four years (since birth) and they could still hold your other child from you and try to adopt her out to family instead of just giving her back to her family? I don't know much about the law but would love to find out as much as I can. That would be great! Thank you for all to do help with, you are greatly appreciated.

Linda,

I'm retired and have a ton of time at my disposal.
I've been "disliking" CPS for the last 20 years and would do all that I can to help.

This is a fight worth fighting, so count me in. What can I do to help?

Contact me anytime......I'm here!
