Child Protective Services laws and agencies are abusive to families and children. This site provides support and information to parents falsely accused of child abuse by Child Protective Services.
FightCPS does not advocate or condone violence or illiegal activities of any kind.
FightCPS is intended to help people learn enough about the law to be able to successfully defend themselves and their families against false accusations using legal documents and strategies that put parents in a stronger position when they go back to court.
For more information, see the FAQ.
Child Protective Services, CPS, has devastated and destroyed hundreds of thousands of families in America during the last thirty years leaving a trail of broken hearts, broken dreams, and shattered childhoods.
Rather than helping families, government agents have used unconstitutional laws in Juvenile Court to rip children away from their loving parents, break asunder God-given, natural, parent-child bonds, and adopt the children of the grieving out to others who profit financially with large monthly adoption subsidy payments.
Child Protective Services must be stopped! The law that started this, CAPTA, must be repealed. We must work tirelessly to inform the public of this very dangerous travesty of justice. We must keep faith knowing that if there is a God, there is an answer and a way to end this heartache.
Child Protective Services Agents - please come to your senses! Family destruction on false or trivial grounds is wrong, reprehensible, and inhumane.
Fosterers - be aware that for the money you get you are holding much-loved children away from their grieving families while the parents are forced to perform a service plan that is anything but a service to them. I call this hostage holding for the government. This is not kindness - to help misguided government agents destroy family relationships and break loving bonds.
CPS workers and fosterers - I ask that you now let the children of the innocent return to their homes where they are truly valued, adored, and loved by the parents God gave them.
Family rights are God-given rights. And they should not be ignored or postponed. Every moment these loving parents and children spend separated from one another is a torment beyond what anyone should ever have to bear.
It is unworthy of human dignity to allow this terrorism and torture of families to go on without saying something, speaking out, and trying to make a change.
Site mission: To provide information and support for families attacked by Child Protective Services and child welfare agents, especially those families facing false or trivial accusations of child abuse or neglect; and for researchers working to protect natural family rights.

Fighting Child Protective Services False Accusations

April 25, 2008
I was reading through the comments this morning and noticed Cheryl wrote, “The stress that CPS has caused us is insurmountable.”
That brings back terrifying memories for me, and I’m sure all of you are experiencing the same thing. CPS workers find a family suffering through a difficult time, then figuratively KICK THEM WHILE THEY’RE DOWN, causing an overwhelming amount of added stress, only by this time we should be calling it TRAUMA.
CPS takes a family with a slight instability, then pours on the pain, takes the children, traumatizing them, perhaps for LIFE, and the parents of course are traumatized beyond what words can express.
By the time we parents get done working through a CPS case, we probably all have Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and should be getting SSI payments instead of having to work. I actually know one woman who did apply for SSI on this basis after getting her step-child back. And yes, she got the money.
After everything the American Nation has done to stress us out, traumatize us, and make our lives a living hell, do you think they should PAY? After all, it is the majority of TAX PAYERS who are supporting these demons, turning their back on our suffering from harsh laws and false accusations. Our lawmakers don’t change the laws because MOST AMERICANS DON’T CARE.
Who should pay if we need financial help after our lives are torn to shreds? What are your thoughts on this?

Yes, I totally agree. (I’m in the boat) My husband is in the hospital as I’m writing this due to stress and trauma, and this after he also already has PTSD from the military and other things and the depression is relentless. I suffer from having a son taken away and I’ve already applied for disability which I could write a lot about because I never thought that would happen to me, but then they also took my daughter the second time and this is the one with my current husband now. We both suffer and they’ve never offered us any help whatsoever. Well, I have to go back to the hospital but will write more later. Glad u guys brought this up and will talk to you later!

I agree they do kick you when you are down and no they dont feel anything but contempt for you as they pull what they do to you. In my case i was freshly divorced and got full custody of my only child , soon thereafter DHHS wiggled into the picture saying because it was a divorce they needed to be up my but for over 6 months. At 7 months they wanted to come to my home 5 days a week i said no and they got a rubber stamp taking my child away. # years later im in a delema as I am at the United States Supreme Court part of it . The one thing that has become perfectly clear is as long as im poor I cannot win this no matter how hard I try And thats sadddening me to no ends.

Interesting comments on PTSS. I too, applied for disabilty with my psych. doctor Kahler’s approval asserting I could not work because ALL my usable time was consumed engaging my army of witnesses refuting CPS’ false allegations harming my family, in courts having no ears to listen, eyes to see, or sense of justice. Simply tyranny.
A natural state at this stage of our Con Tree.
I got the SSI without a hearing! AND, without which, I could never have found the time to go all the way to the supreme court with these issues, now, in the U.S. District court in Sacramento.
NEVER give up. The issues we engage dwarf ALL others, short of the illegal wars our public serpents thrust upon US. And so sayeth a host of credible public servants I have come to know.

All I can add even Congressional staff members are aware of the trauma which CPS inflicts.
Even folks working in clerical positions at CPS are appalled by the mountains CPS often makes of molehills.
So, best not to think of these folks as your friends. They are too untrained, too young, too childless, too clueless and too inexperienced to help often desperate women.
Moms remember that CPS is a state-invented creation whose only maxim is to follow a business model.
That is: More clients to ensure that that the *system* survives and prospers.
When anyone examines the standard of proof which CPS uses, they will note that any slight infraction a parent might disclose, will prove harmful to that parent.
Never was a system designed to frustrate families more and to keep children from contact with their families.

Yes I agree with you.It does cause stress and trauma for both the parents and children. The children are put in a strange home where most of the time the state can work with the parent or parents but rather take the children away.I have missed my son’s growing up.As I know other parent or parents have missed their children’s growing up.
I do want to sue the state of florida because I have proof of what they are saying that they said happened but never happened..The state picks more on the low income people because they know we can’t afford our own lawyer.

I agree that there should be a remedy of some sort, so whatever it takes to hold those bastards accountable. As a matter of fact, i think i’ll open the SSI site as soon as i’m done writing this and apply for benefits myself, who knows, maybe i’ll qualify, since my lifes been completely ripped out from underneath me, my children, my income, my home, my reputation, and sometimes even my hope. SOMEBODY’S GOTTA DO SOMETHING TO EXPOSE AND HOLD ACOUNTABLE THAT CHILD STEALING BLACK MARKET INDUSTRY ABUSING THE VERY ONES THEY ACCUSE AND PROCLAIM ARE DEFENDING…peace and love… lets get em guys!!!!!!!

My brother paddled his daughter for playing with fire, on the stove top, she had a small make on her leg, that was apprently finger marks, she went to school, and the teacher called social services and she was taken away, never asking the parents what happened, she was in foster care for 3 months, and now she is back home, but he had to attend parenting classes, really none of their business, he was disaplining his child, she now refuses to go to school for fear they might take her away again, she is 7, and is being home schooled now.
Comment by Nena — April 28, 2008 @ 10:11 am
That’s absolutely right on about CPS being a business. We need more ex CPS workers to come forth & testify about the harm their ’system’ does to families. I am still undergoing acute depression & anxiety thanks to these monsters. Not to mention, the people who are the guardians of my kids are making my 5 yr. old go to counseling & my 14 yr. old go to anger management. They just don’t consider the fact that removing kids from thier loving parents, when abuse NEVER happened, is abuse! Come on, government, PAY UP!
Comment by Susan — April 28, 2008 @ 3:23 pm
Gone from homeless to having a place to call home. My kids were taken from me five years ago. I am Aleut, and my own tribe disowned me based on the misrepresentation of facts by CPS to them and the psychologist who evaulated me. I have parties to case trying to get me to give my kids up, I told them no. I am interested in Law School down the line, I want to fight for families unjustly accused. Being poor and on welfare means the system can walk all over a person. I am their worst nightmare, I wouldn’t back down and quit. To all of you parents stand up for your rights and don’t ever ever give up and let them win. My heart goes out to all of your families. I believe God will deal with liars and child hurters harshly and swiftly. How they can sleep at night is beyond me.

hell ya–slimy cps workers and the slimy organization they represent should be paying to support my child and myself–i am native american and cps could not (tried like hell though) take my child from me because we are sovereign-not to mention the Indian Child Welfare Act/ICWA that was passed in 1978, but i did loose my job-got evicted from my apartment-got cps sniffing my piss-school officer fat a** constantly pulling my son out of class to question him-now-the other children harrass my son-etc-on & on & on–the B.S. doesn’t stop–CPS has absolutly no intentions of looking out for childrens best interest–this organization needs to be deleted off the face of the earth—they seek & destroy then tell you that it’s not their fault–by the way–i now owe them for their services–i have to pay evil doers for their distruction.
if they don’t pay now–they will on judgement day.

I AM FILING A CIVIL TORT. I’M IN THE PROCES OF RESEARCHING THIS ON THE INTERNET. IF ANYONE IN CALIFORNIA WANTS TO JOIN ME LET ME KNOW. I ALSO WANT TO SUE ON A FEDERAL LEVEL. MY DAUGHTER WAS NOT ABUSED OR NEGLECTED. SHE WAS TAKEN BECAUSE OF A PAPER CLIP CUT THAT SHE DID TO HERSELF AT SCHOOL AND BECAUSE I GOT MAD AT HER A MONTH BEFORE FOR KICKING ME AND I DAMAGED A “DOOR”. THEY SENT HER HOME AFTER THE DOOR INCIDENT BUT THE FATHER LIED TO THE WORKER SO THEY USED THE PAPER CLIP EXCUSE TO TAKE HER AFTER 43 DAYS. NO PROTECTIVE CUSTODY WARRANT.I THINK THEY KIDNAPPED MY KID. I WAS SICK WITH ANEMIA AT THE TIME AND THE PUBLIC DEFENDERS DIDN’T DO A THING TO HELP ME.
WHO WANTS TO FILE A HUGE LAWSUIT AGAINST THESE FOLKS??

Im with you Kathleen, My children were removed beacuse my husband and i were arguing nad a neighbor called cps. my kids werent even there at the time. The stupid cps worker was determined to make a case out of nothing. and no matter how hard we tried to fight it, they took our children. I wish that there was some way that we could round up all of millions of families that have been unfairly victimized by CPS here in California, and file a huge lawsuit. I wish there was a way to get us all together to make our voices heard! Strength in Numbers!
Comment by Mary Lewis — April 30, 2008 @ 2:38 pm
It’s been 4 years since my traumatic experience with CPS. My husband and I were falsely accused of child abuse. Our four month old son developed a high fever and began vomiting. Since his dad was sick, we just assumed he had the same thing. He began having projectile vomiting followed by seizures. The hospital (University of Baltimore in Maryland) said that since we couldn’t explain the bleeding on the brain and retinal hemorrhaging (classic signs SBS), then it must be abuse. The doctors that knew we were innocent were quickly drowned out by the ones who were “100% positive this was abuse”. There were no fractures, bruises, history of abuse. But, we were guilty before proven innocent and were at the mercy of CPS. The psychiatrist that CPS chose for us AND the counselor both defended my husband and I. Nothing added up to anyone with any common sense. It took us over a year and a half to get our three children back. We were sent to countless state programs, one teacher joked “glad to see so many here, that’s what keeps the money coming in”. It seems like no one really cares about what happened to us. I would love to see the truth prevail and CPS exposed for what it really is, Children Plucked by Satan (CPS). There’s definitely an abuse of power in that organization – when we contacted the Secretary of State to report it, we were told that they ‘were on the same side as CPS’.

D.P.S.S. is a horrible Government agency that needs to be shut down. They destroy good families & let the bad ones slip away. My children were taken away from me & they would not tell me why. I didn’t find out until 2 years later that my now ex-wife tried to give them away. She had Münchhausen’s by proxy. I lost a good job, my house & everything I worked hard for but especially I lost my kids. Now my wife was awarded custody because D.P.S.S. in Southern CA is very biased towards fathers. I didn’t stand a chance. Now because of D.P.S.S. my children are suffering.

When I was 10 I fell out of a tree I was climbing and broke my arm. The doctor in the emergency room informed CPS and they did a full investigation. They took me into a room and kept trying to get me to say my parents hurt and abused me, which never happened. They threatened my parents telling them they would take me and my brothers away for not cooperating. They kept telling my mom that they believed my father abused us, which was a complete lie. I lost track of how many interviews we had, and the social worker walking through our house nitpicking about our trash can and toys lying about. For months my parents lived in terror that someone would show up and take their children away. Anyone who pulled up in front of the house sent all of us scrambling into the house to cling to our mom. I totally think the state should have paid all our court costs after dragging us through hell and back and forcing us to hire a lawyer. Honestly, even an apology would do. I think that would have helped a lot, but instead we got the…”We are closing your case. For now.” And so the dread fills your heart and you pray that no one else falls out gets hurt anytime soon.

We’re in the beginning of what we hope and pray will be a short relationship with CPS. Our babies were taken a little more than a month ago.
Since they were taken, my husband and I have been jumping through whatever hoops CPS has set as obstacles between us and our children. In doing so, my husband has had to take time off work that he can not afford (either financially or job security wise) so that we can make our appointments. Our children’s lives have been completely uprooted. They don’t sleep in their own beds. Don’t see their own doctor. Don’t play with their own toys. Don’t live their lives anymore. They are living someone else’s lives.
We had a strong family. Now we’re at the point where we are trying to find my husband a place to stay in the hopes that CPS will allow our babies to come home if he’s gone.
Do I think they should be made to pay? Yes.
But there isn’t enough money in the world to make up for the hell that CPS puts innocent families though.

I would like to help those like me. Here is the problem. I need the details of the cases and will compile into a book. No names, but must be absolutely honest. Please be honest about what you or your partner did wrong. This will help make a better case for reform. 99% of us screwed up, but most don’t deserve to lose our kids. My book will deal with where the system failed us to fix our problems. If you have the time to write up your case to help others and possibly improve the system, please email me. Details and honesty are important. I don’t want names or real email addresses just the truth! I would like you to pls. include name of county and state where the incident happened. This will help show any inconsistencies in the system from region to region. Thanks.

Continued.. if you are okay with having your stories published, please send your correspondence to niveeni@yahoo.com and we can get the process started. Like I said, confidentiality is a number one priority for me and you. Thanks to all your help. I will never publish any names! Just want to help others avoid mistakes and show where CPS could have helped families and failed to do so.

Hello….To the original person who posted about getting SSI benefits.
The cost of the damage of having an open case with DCSF (CPS) is insurmountable.
My case is somewhat different because of the betrayal from my teenage daughter. When she entered high school SHE became very verbally abusive to me. Nothing that I did was good enough. It was very hard to keep up with the changes that she was experiencing in high school. She began to lie and conceal things. Did not want to account for anything. Any attempt from me to do anything for myself was criticized. She began telling me at age 14 that she wanted to go into foster care or be adopted. I do not know who she was talking to, other than friends at school. Her abuse of me became intolerable to the point that I dropped her off and left her at the police station (gave her her father’s phone number back east)…told her to have the police call and have her father pick her up. Well DCSF was at my door about 9 pm that night..they just actually lectured her. It was not until later that summer (2006) that we voluntarily had a DCSF worker coming to the house about every two weeks. They were ready to close the case in Jan. 2007. I however had an altercation with daughter in early Feb. 2007. YES, I am not perfect, I did put my hands on her. But I did not do anything to the level that the claimed. The fact is that my daughter slugged me multiple times with her fist two days before police were called on me.
I am not going to go into every detail, because like most of us….it would take a book.
Can any one relate…..who has a nasty teenager, than has treated the parent with such disrespect over a long period of time. Many of these teenagers know what the laws are, even if we don’t (I did not). She basically wanted to get rid of me…thought she would have a hay day in foster care–away from my discipline and rules.
I am leaving out a lot, but I was arrested, spent 2 days in jail….however City Attorney dropped case against me, said she was not an abused child….they had picture of her with the little scratch that I put on her arm….with a big smile on her face…woman in city atty’s office knew what the game was…..however, I appeared in children’s court in Los Angeles…and they had written an entire encyclopedia about me……..you people all know how it goes.
After both of my children were taken out of the house (it was also my 12 yr old son, who I love dearly and had no problem with), the DCSF placed both children in the home of one of my daughter’s high school friends. My daughter began to get into trouble with this girl…they were all posting nasty pictures of themselves on MySpace. I caught my daughter, found her site (before she had set it to private)…downloaded all photos…which eventually were expressed mailed to the public pretender (court app. atty)..and judge (Commissioner) saw them. However, I had the number where my both children were staying (non-foster parents, but caregivers)…I had called and yelled, who wouldn’t, may have sweared some…I am only human. Well, these people in order to do damage control told DCSF worker that I threatened to KILL them all including my own children. I was in children’s court on May 9, 2007…inspite of judge seeing photos of the nasty MySpace photos, he still placed R/O on me. This also meant that I could no longer go to my son’s school as I had been allowed to. He was in 7 th grade.
I will write more later, but because I may not get response…I would like to discuss where my case is now…it is just about my son who will be graduating 8th grade in June…I do not want custody of daughter back//I will not ever want anything to do with her again. Any attempt at reunification has not worked, and as you know they will always blame parent no matter what the child (teenager) does….again not about a young child.
So:
1. Anyone whose case was opened due to problems with out of control teen?
2. How about when you want one child and not the other (DCSF lumps them all together).
3. I would like to apply for SSI, what documentation do I need. I cannot function, the depression is so bad. Even if I had a job I would have lost it with all the turmoil in my life. These people have trashed me like an animal. I have lost custody of both children: My exH owes about 80,000 in back Child support…the county of Los Angeles Child Support enforcement has a check for about 12,000 just sitting there. Cannot be released to me or my mother (who now has the children, due to hiring private atty). My Medical was also cancelled, I do not have the children, they will not renew it…..but I am supposed to do all these things and jump through all these hoops…..and find a job, I can barely get up in the morning. Nuff said.
Comment by Vera Dubchek — May 7, 2008 @ 11:15 am
Vera, to get SSI you need a medical history of getting help for depression or whatever it is that is bothering you. Go to the local Social Security office and make an application. They will probably turn you down. You will need to ask for a reconsideration. They may turn you down again, and you’ll need to ask for a hearing. All the time you’re going from one hearing to another, keep compiling your medical evidence about being depressed, traumatized, stressed, whatever applies. If need be, get an attorney to help with your hearings.
I totally understand about having a teenage daughter out of control. I had one myself, only a few years ago. She left bruises on me more than once. Fortunately we were able to live through it and resolve the issues without involving CPS. My sympathy, especially regarding your young son who was not a part of the initial problem.

“After everything the American Nation has done to stress us out, traumatize us, and make our lives a living hell, do you think they should PAY?”
We ALL pay. We are paying daily by the negative consequences of what is taking place. There are so many, they are too many to list here.
There is a war on families taking place and we are all unwitting, unwilling victims at the present time. We need to unite as quickly as possible. It’s hard to do when it is YOUR FAMILY which is under attack and YOUR FAMILY which is threatened when you take a stand.
The “American Nation” has not done this. It has come in the form of “public laws” which we are normally not aware of, or worse, not fully aware of the agenda or consequences when enacted. One word “lobbyists.”
The other thing is “they” (government) will lie to us. And when we discover the “lies” it’s usually too late to act.
“After all, it is the majority of TAX PAYERS who are supporting these demons, turning their back on our suffering from harsh laws and false accusations.”
Repeat comment above and the worst part about it is this. The average American doesn’t realize how this system works until after they are caught up in it. They really believe it’s working. All they hear are random “statistics” blurted out by the media that doesn’t realize the statistics themselves are “lies” because they haven’t done their homework. By that time, it’s too late, and the “sleepers” all believe there’s a “reason this happened” to you, even when there isn’t.
“Our lawmakers don’t change the laws because MOST AMERICANS DON’T CARE.”
I’m pretty sure the MAJORITY of parents care. They don’t “understand” and that’s the problem. “They” (government) don’t change the laws because there’s too much money being made on our children. WE don’t DEMAND change because we are ignorant of both the laws and HOW we can STOP THIS MADNESS.
Until the American public sees these atrocities in the “mainstream” media, this will continue. “They” muzzle us by using our children as hostages.
I’ve know (literally) scores of doctors, lawyers, social workers, psychiatrists, psychologists, and yes, even lawmakers, brought to their knees and silenced through the use of their children and the threat of their loss.

I am an advocate for 10 sets of parents who’s children were apprehended by Child Protection. It is astounding and disturbing to watch how these parents are treated. Yes, I believe the Social Workers should be screened, tested and supervised more. I have seen some significant damage done over the last year.
What ever happened to Section 7 of the Charter of Rights??? That’s what we’re bringing into the Sept. trial where my “adopted” son is fighting for his 4 girls.
Yes, most certainly the workers should be accountable for their actions…I wrote a letter to the Alberta Minister of Child Protection, asking for a public inquiry into their Central Alberta Office…..met with rudeness on the phone, from her assistant and haven’t heard back for 6 weeks. Hmmmmm……why would one avoid a situation if there was nothing to hide??
God bless you all on this journey for justice!

I think that cps office abuses their power way to much. They lie and make illegal threats to gain your cooperation. If every family knew their rights before cps started to harrass them, when would things be any different? I sometimes think that cps would find a way to use the fact that you stood up for your rights against you. I really want to stand up and fight them because they have done nothing but lie to my family and abuse my family for well over half of my toddler aged childs life. Cps needs stopped and shut down. Its as simple as that. They dont need reformed they need done away with. Yes, its a whole other story if a child is in real danger but lets face it, many arent. Cps makes clutter, spring cleaning, remodeling, moving, ect – into life threatning problems. They need stopped. Its horrible with families like mine who are doing nothing wrong and families who sexually abuse their children, beat them, supply them with drugs and liqiour, and leave them unsupervised for days on end (Im talking children, not teenagers) have nothing done to them. Even if they are reported to cps or the law inforcment – theres no investigation and they get off scott free to continue to abuse their children in any ways that they like.. Good families dont deserve the punishment cps dishes out to them.. Many loose their jobs because of the ’services’ cps forces them into. Which by the way are not services to those who are forced to take them but ruther a means of punishing them even further. Cps..Thats whos doing most of the abusing and neglecting children in this country..

Well I am sorry for the reason you think that CPS did you wrong, however your attorney should be able to give you direction and fight for you, if they are supposedly doing you wrong. What I think is wrong is taking a child from the bio parent for 2-5 years then placing these children back with bio parents who should have had their rights severed LONG before. I see to many times children are given back to bio parents, then their child dies IN THERE CARE. I know the system is not perfect. But in my opinion I think the system should be harder on parents and more respectful of the children’s wants and needs rather then the parents.

There is almost no hope left inside of your heart after the “CPS tornado” is over…My life is gone…taken away by people ( whom in my opinion ) have no idea what they are doing…Everyday, I wake up and I feel as if I am dead already…a zombie…I on one hand agree, Yea! Give me Social Security. I am A CPS made mental case so take care of me and help me live without my babies…but on the other hand what about my little darlings with their pain and confusion…take the money you would give to me every month and put it into a fund for them…

We were so tortured by CPS that I felt like I was the one with the most damage- but still jumping through hoops during my hysterectomy – seriously. I had a therapist ask if she could make a home visit on the day of my surgery. I said no. She wondered if I had a problem not being there, I asked her if she was married. My husband would want to spend as much time as he could with me, for Pete’s sake.
We adopted a child who was almost 5 yrs old and no diagnoses of mental health problems. He has attachment disorder, clinical depression (hospitalized for being suicidal when he was 6) ADHD, PTSD and intermittent explosive disorder.
I was busted for being Catholic – seriously. I also was examined for behaviors that no other parent would be subjected to. I go to church, take my kids to wonderful school, participate in mom Bible studies and household stuff. The rest of the parents in the waiting room didn’t wear good pants – just jeans and t-shirts.
I still struggle to get over what this has done to me and my husband. Our older son whom we adopted at birth also stressed out and threw up for two weeks straight. Our marriage has suffered and what thanks do we get for taking on this child? none, but persecution and prosecution.

You are all talking about CPS…well, what about the Police that come in first? My daughter were moving, and just because she was with one of the kids on a memory foam on the floor for one night, they felt that was a reason to call CPS…when I got to the house, the cop was rude and made a moral judgment on me and my daughter, he also stated that there was no food or water in the house (the pantry had a whole barrage of canned veggies and the fridge had milk and food in it, and the freezer had a turkey and frozen veggies. There was fresh fruit also. There was a 2.5 gallon of water on the counter. (I couldn’t pay the water bill, so two days earlier the water was turned off, although, my daughter and the kids stayed at my apt. for two days, and then my daughter took them back there for the night so we could get a early start on cleaning the house due to it being practically empty from moving. The officer was rude to my 2 1/2 old grandson. When they took the children, the children were traumatized. They had never seen an afro-american before in real life, CPS sent two black women to get them…so my two grandbabies had to deal with not only Mommie putting them in the car and forcing them to go with strangers, but with a different skin color which probably scared the “H” out of them. They were screaming…I’m crying as I write this! There was no reason for this to happen…we don’t even know how! I have an access tv show that I produce and host, and I will have no problem doing a show on our experience. A 16 year old teen was recently killed by their foster parent here in Antioch, CA..so you can imagine how livid we were when they came in and took them.
I will most definately file a complaint on the cop, and we will show up in court with our own attorney! Interesting that the two roomates there weren’t even questioned!

My two sons and baby daughter were taken in 1996. My husband at the time spanked my oldest son with a belt. After months of court battles, I was only given my baby daughter back. My sons who were from a former marriage, were split up and placed in the foster care system.
I was then abused by this man for eight years until I was finally able to free my daughter and myself from him. I have never seen my sons but, for 9 years my wages were garnished to support them in the foster care system.
Since 2005 I have been a SAHM. I am a shell of a person and rarely leave my house. In 2003 I was diagnosed with PTSD and depression.
My sons are now 18 and 20. I just received notice that I am still thousands of dollars in debt to the county for the foster care. I don’t understand how they can take children away from low income families and then make them pay without ever being allowed to see them.
I have thought about killing myself but can’t knowing my daughter still needs her mother. This is what CPS has done to me and this is what I have to live with for the rest of my life. My crime according to CPS was I failed to protect my son, which I have regretted every day. Yet, I have paid in more ways than a human being should.
Recently I came across my oldest son’s MY SPACE page to learn that he is now in boot camp for the U.S. Marine Corp. It breaks my heart to know that if anything happens to him and GOD forbid that it doesn’t, I as his mother will never be informed. I feel my whole life has been nothing but a sacrifice of my children. My daughter may have had me physically but, I have never been the same since the day my children were taken from me. I wonder if this happens in any other country. The CPS is the destroyer families in it’s current form. Unless people band together to stop the abuse of power, nothing will ever change.

I was wrongly accussed by my step Daughters!!! of molesting them.. The courts, my lawyer and everyone gave up on me and I was forced to plead no contest. One problem, I lost my life, my wife and my own flesh and blood daugther. I travelled around the world living dangerously, hoping to die, but somehow made it to this point. I have work, but the walls are closing in. As an offender, I am not in a good position. WOrk is almost impossible to come by. I have NOT been able to pay child support, although I desparately want to. Of course I can’t see my daugther, or wife, or contact them to try and talk it out. It has been 8 years now!!!!!!! I want to try to overturn this plead but can’t, I have NO money to do that. I want to pay my child support but don’t make enough to live on in the first place and it’s hard to get a better job because of my record. I m screwed. I really dont’ know why I m writing this, you can’t help me either. Just trying to stay above water and wish to know what is going on back home. I m abroad for the last 8 years.
My family has given up on me.

Woah I can’t believe people even write this stuff! I am sorry for the families that had to deal with CPS if they felt like it weren’t needed, but I wish we didn’t have to have this agency if abuse/neglect didn’t occur. What about the workers that come to work everyday and have to listen to these horrendous stories? If only you knew the horrible things that occur to children; death, serious injuries (head trauma), shaken baby syndrome, drug ingestion. I am so glad we have this agency because if not there would be a lot more dead children without protection, and I can promise you that.
Comment by anonymous — October 27, 2008 @ 2:01 pm
Anonymous… I think if they were really interested in protecting children they would also go after foster parents who harm and kill children but instead for many years they’ve tried to sweep that abuse under the rug.
The problem is that there are financial incentives for counties to take children from natural parents but no financial incentives to take them from abusive foster parents; plus some social workers can see it as a pain in the neck to have to move a child from one foster home to another.
There are many examples of parents noticing on visitations that their children are bruised or scarred or otherwise abused in foster homes. They have been threatened with no more visitations if they complain. The children are sent back to abusive foster homes. Some are then killed there.
So if you want to tell me CPS is about protecting kids, I have to say, no, it isn’t. It is more about counties finding a way to generate funding.
Pathetic, but true.

I’ve worked in the mental health field to provide services to families who have either had kids removed by CPS or who are in danger of removal. I have seen a couple cases where it felt like the removal was unfair but have had many more cases where children were being hurt and endangered by parents who refused to recognize that they were risking their kids’ lives through neglect, drug use, sexual abuse, etc. In some cases CPS refused to act despite crisis after crisis. In all cases services were provided to help the families stabilize but it wasn’t uncommon for parents to no show both at the office and at home. It’s a shame that we need an agency like CPS but terrible things do happen to some kids. Google “girl at the window”–a truly terrible case that left a young girl crippled for life and yet the mother still denies any culpability. It’s traumatic for parents to be falsely accused and lose their kids but there is another side to this. I wouldn’t want to do the painful job that CPS case workers have.
Comment by Charla — March 7, 2009 @ 7:11 pm
I agree that CPS has inflicted unjustifiable trauma on many families. Unfortunately, though, as long as there are families that DO abuse their children, CPS will continue to do what they do. One thing that I have always had a problem with is children being taken from their parents because of poverty. If the county/state is willing to pay a foster family to house and care for those children, why not give the money to the birth family for a bit until they can get through whatever financial obstacles they have to deal with? If those children are not being abused or neglected in any way other than financially, there is no excuse to remove them from their parents – the family could be helped AND kept together!

I would have to tell U all.that I have used many things on this sight in my case, with cps and the court’s…
the courts have VIOLATED my
CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHTS.as did CPS and the attorney’s that I had here in klamath county,as I have been
going to court on 9/28/09 I was in court and as before I have stated to the judge more 5 years and still state
the VIOLATESIONS of my rights
and constitutional rights…
judge and attorney’s and cps
STATE we can do that we have the right?
and my child gets abused in the foster home he is in state “states”thats ok we pay foster parents to do that.and we can cover up foster parents child abuse.
as the klamath tribe states its for the money and its ok for them to lie in court and get away with it,because it there law and its ok for them to violate the constitutional rights because they have there own laws.
as I was told I only have the right to see my child be abused in this foster home.and not a dam thing I can do about it…I have written letters after letters and I still get there is nothing we can do…
so there are no rights for native americans in this world but only for the states lies under GODS law.
so statements on this sight do not work for some people and works for others.as I have tryed and It did not work for me.here in klamath falls
as my own court appointed attorney
hung me out to dry….I have lost my child do to unjustices to the law there law………best of luck to all…..
yes I still will fight but there is no good out come on this..as my child
will be abused in this foster home…
and klamath falls will always violate the constitutional rights….and attorney’s that violate the consitutional rights and judges and so forth…..may GOD be with all children and the child in foster care that are being abused and killed
as people turn there heads and don’t stand up and fight……ty joe
Comment by joe — September 30, 2009 @ 6:39 am
Joe… seems like the ICWA opened up the doors for tribes to make money with child welfare. Too many people still think it will help Native Americans and instead it just gives a tribe money instead of the county. Not all tribes are taking advantage of this money but some are. Here’s a site listing complaints.
