does anyone know about the child abuse registry laws in Ohio? I have an incident that was unsubstantiated and my child was never removed or taken out of my care. I was told by cps even though it was unsubstantiated they do not remove those reports and that the law just supposedly changed and they do not remove any reports of alligations off of the child abuse registry now.

I just wanted to inform everyone that I called the legal department for North Dakota regarding our name being placed on the child abuse index without due process. I told the rep it is a violation of due process and there are many cases where families are suing and winning and in California a woman was awarded $4.9 million dollars. The rep said we are well aware of the cases which is why we will be removing your name until there is an administrative hearing. I asked what about the others? She said yours will be the first to be removed followed by the others. This is still not right but is a step in the right direction. Our CPS case was dismissed the day before we were to have our trial due to the states attorney knowing he would lose. We could have not done this without a lawyer. We still plan on taking further legal action as the social worker was on a witch hunt and violated the policy manual.

Thank You so much for this blog . I too am on the list even though I am still fighting my severe neglect case. I don’t understand how I’m on there without a conviction and it not right. I am so confused and backed into a wall with my case. Their is so much corruption in these family courts that even though Their is no real evidence against me other then “hear say” I know I would loose. I am now in a position where I am forced to go along with these false allegations, due to the fact that on my next court I can be given back custody of my children but I will have to remain on the CACI and give CPS a true finding. What a way to get people to take settlements, they wave parents kids in-front of their face and expect them to really choose between the two, their own personal pride (innocent parents) or their pride and joy (children)…….pretty confusing right? Not really just a very sad and corrupt system………pray for my children

Have you read Arizona's Central Registry law? I had the same thing happen to me here in California and formerly I was a preschool teacher. I decided not to fight it and to find a new profession.

I need some advise. I had CPS called on me by a landlord who trashed my house before calling police (we were going to take him to court and move due to him entering out house with no notice and stealing property) I was 5 month pregnant and just had emergency gallbladder remove too. The cps work told me it was fine i just needed to clean the house and take a parenting class. I was put on a waiting list for the parenting class. I then later recieved a letter from CPS and court papers saying i was c harged with neglect. I took all paper to court since i didnt understand the the public defender said to plea guilty and take the court parenting class since i couldnt afford to go through a year long trial due to my health.. and that everything would be fixed by the end of my class and everything removed. this was 2 years ago. I recently tried to get a job in healthcare and found out everything is NOT fine and im on the registry. i requested info on it and was sent the original letter and had it explained to me. i was told there is nothing i can do now and it will be with me for life. I am so frustrate3d! I have always worked in health care and am a single mom with 3 kids to support now. you people are insane, and feel sorry for yourselves way too much, this happend to me at just 19 years old married as a new mom I live a very different life from most young people we’re traditional i don’t drink, party go clubbing or have a boat load of friends, me and my husband were just blessed to have the means to support us and a child so young and people tend to develop a hatrid when your life looks perfect from the outside world, i felt down for a while but, life goes on I have to be there for my child, I was never convicted just thrown on a list, even though my husband is an involved parent, his name doesn’t sit on the registry, just mine it could have something to do with my race because it was mentioned that I’m african american and my husband is white, in the investigation, but I don’t worry about it, because it only looked racist on someone who had only been a mom for 1 month in a majority white area on an allegation of not having food for my new baby with just 3 percent of the population being black,and almost invisible they’re in their own world where they don’t get out much and see that young married couples do exist as well as hard working young parents who provide just fine for their baby. I find it to be more of an act of hate, in hopes of ruining my future because I’m young, 20 years on a registry is obsured and why I still have my child and was never convicted, just looks like a hate crime of slander. You people need to move on, people have other motives and case workers are hired in they’re not voted in or have any experience in psychology or had any of the courses or degrees reuired for that kind of work, they’re nobodies, just average people that could be your neighboor, they rarely have kids, or if they do their kids have psychological issues because they mentally abuse their own, and wont even listen to their kids or their feelings I had a friend who’s mom was one and she said she grew up with alot of verbal, mental and sometimes it would turn phsyical. They do those jobs to protect themselves, or have other motives involved.

We took a 301 contract. according to everyone this was not to affect the cacci listing, as they were droping the charges if we took this and they did not ask us to do anything except the parenting class and a nannie coming into the house. Now i am not a candidate for an appeal. what else can I do to appeal this.
