I can attest to how bad the foster care system is..my children have been trapped in a foster home for four months. First of all i found out that the home my five children are staying in has only been approved for two children…and my (5) children are not the only foster children living in that home….at the moment that home approved for two is housing 7 foster children.

Also I found out that the foster care givers have been taking my children to a pentecostal church, not really a big deal to some but my family is of the baptist faith and we do not want our children being subject to another religion. They never even asked our permission to take them to church.

We also found out that on the weekend the foster care givers place our children in other peoples care so they can have a “day off”. Have these people that are watching my children over the weekend had criminal background checks, has their homes been approved by the ssw to make sure it is safe for my children, I dont know these people that my children are spending weekends with…i dont even know there first names..yet i find all this out through my 11 year old son who thinks I have a right to know where he is at all times.

The foster care givers let my 3 year old get so sick before taking him to the doctor when he had strep throat that he had to be hospitalized and hooked up to an IV for dehydration.

The foster care giver’s 19 year old daughter was caught talking about my children on her facebook wall calling them her “brothers and sisters”. Yet this whole time my children want to come home or be with the grandparents…everytime we have a visit they cry and ask why they can’t come home.

We have been fighting tooth and nail to get them outta foster care and everytime we get over one reason why they cant be placed with family the ssw always comes up with another reason why. I am so sick of all the lies and maliciousness of these case workers…they have my children held hostage for no reason and I dont have a say in anything that my kids do…yet i had to sign a waiver allowing them to take my daughter for a haircut!!!

Lisa, one way to help her is to help type affidavits telling her side of the facts to the judge, if they take her children. You can find sample affidavits (declarations) here: legal document library.

I have a 17yr old mother of 2 who went to cps for help. She wanted to go to school and get daycare for her daughter, but her parents who cared more about drugs then their daughter refused to help her so a cps worker told her they could help her get rights without her parents. This was the beginning of her nightmare. She has been moved to 3foster homes now. The first lady left her alone in the country without any access to help in emergencies. The second lady has multiply domestic violence charges that cps says they checked out and she is ok to be foster. The third lady and man have verbally and mentally abused her. She had her 2nd baby this month in fostercare and the doctor prescribed her 4-5 painkillers and when she was in pain the lady told her she didnt have med. When she got the bill it showed the foste lady was given the med and she asked why she didnt give her the med when she knew she was in pain. The lady started yelling and when they got home the and she told her husband he pushed table across room and knocked chairs over. Then they called cps worker and told there side of story and said alot of bad things about her which are not true the worker called her and didnt even ask what happen just started threatening her that they will be taking her kids away. I cant imagine what the younger kids go threw in fostercare what a broken system where a child goes for help and is treated as bad by fosterparent as she was her own parents if not worse.I dont know the best way to help her any advice would be appreciated. I didnt see anyway to contact anyone who is going threw this or any protest to fight these people are going on. If anyone knows of meeting of groups who are fighting these demons please help me.

Concerned Mom, sorry that happened to you. Caseworkers are ignorant, but they apparently think themselves to be gods. They too will have their day of reckoning. I will look forward to learning more about your lawsuit when it is settled. Please come back and tell us about it.

My stepson was removed from his mothers care due to her neglect and drug use. He was placed into kinship care with his grandmother due to his mom and her mother lying claiming that my husband had never been in his sons life. My husband and I contacted the cabinet for helth and families in Kenton County and filled out paperwork for a homestudy. We both asked the social workers to get my step son some counseling since he was acting acting out physically and taking about watching his mom having sex. The caseworker Holly Profitt and that twit Danielle Sneed laughed at us and said he is a normal little boy. We have been going to court for custody and the judge granted us 2 weeks a month with him. While he was here for a visit he was caught trying to sexually abuse my 3 year old. Needless to say I have filed a lawsuit against the state of KY.

i have been patient. waiting quitely while my son and his wife pursues justice. i have come 2 the conclusion …..there is NO justice!!! his ex-wife and her family….well lets just say there is PHYSICAL proof against them but my son has not seen his kids since oct 2009 because his ex wife is claiming sex abuse ALL BECAUSE SHE DOES NOT WANT HIM TO BE ABLE TO SEE THE KIDS!!!!! there was a family n louisville that was burnt 2 death and other episodes….because people like fran kitterman, charles and pricsilla parker BLOB the system with lies and crap!!!!!!! the childeren r the ones that r hurting the most!!!!

Dorothy, your son can sue so long as he does it soon - like within a year or so after he is eighteen. You must move on this soon! You can go to your courthouse and look through the computer database for cases filed against social services. Find out which attorneys filed them, and ask them to represent you too.

I am among what appears to be many who want to sue Kentucky for everything it is worth! 8 long years ago my son was taken from me. I was sick and my house was a terrible mess. I was so sick i dropped out of college because i was failing! I asked for help. The answer: a social worker at my house first thing in the morning with a camera! I was told there would be before and after pictures. I had my elderly father help me clean the house SPOTLESS and there were never after pictures. The judge never heard my side of the story, i was thrown in jail that day, before my testimony, over a $50 bounced check! My disabilities and the fact that my son is disabled was used against me.

I did EVERYTHING they requested of me at first. I was even told in front of my visiting mother (a witness) that my son and i would be ready for weekend visits, and that would lead to his return. Those visits NEVER happened! Every time progress was made our caseworker was changed. Every new caseworker had no idea of the promises that were made.

Eventually i became suicidal because of cps and their false promises. the visits with my son even stopped due to one excuse or the other. Threats and intimidation became commonplace in my life. Hangups when i called in became even more common.

Eventually i could take no more. I moved out of Kentucky without my son. Not even a year after i moved i got a letter, 3 days after, i was due in court for my parental rights to be removed on the basis of abandonment. I NEVER abandoned my child. I fought until i could fight no longer. My rights were illegally terminated and to date my voice has never been heard in my defense.

I have since had another child. A girl. I am now terrified of cps, and terrified to love her as much or more than i did my son. I am terrified that if i do then cps will find a way to take her as well.

In 5 weeks and 1 day my son turns the big 18. He emailed me for the first time the day after my birthday of this last year. He told me he is coming home march 2 of this year and NOTHING is going to stop him. I asked if he wanted to sue the hell out of Ky for their injustice. He said yes. Now how do i go about correcting what was done wrong and nailing those S.O.B’s that took my boy illegally? Also how can i join in on the movement to sue KY with the other parents who suffered and are suffering like me? I lived in Columbia. Media attention in this is more than welcome after march 2 of this year. Any help or support in this matter or in the upcoming reunion of my son will be more than welcome. Thanks.

linda, i am keeping books on everyone and not only that but i have got video recordings of every time we have been to court about this. I also purchased a small voice recorder to keep handy for any visit from cps and have purchased my daughter one also. It will take time to get everything together and like everyone else we were scared to do anything against anyone until this is over but it will be done.
I am also printing handouts to leave in the court houses and anywhere else i can leave them to get information to people who are going thru this kind of thing. There is all kinds of helpful information out there but some people don’t have the resources or knowledge to find it. We have to unite and fight these people together.
